New research groups in Africa


We are pleased to inform our readers of the recent creation of new groups of researchers:

- in Senegal, with the Association for the Developmment of Tropical Atmosphere Physics (ADEPAT), headquartered at the Laboratoire de Physique de l'Atmosphère, ENSUT, BP 5271, Dakar Fann. Chaired by Prof. Simeon Fongang, the ADEPAT is aimed at contributing to progress in scientific knowledge in this field and its applications to development.

- in Mali, with the Mali Association of Hydrology (MHA), chaired by M. Housseini Maiga (DNHE, BP 66, Bamako), which aims at highlighting hydrology and water resources in Mali, and focusses on increasing awareness, information and training.

- in Cameroon, where a new IGBP National Committee hast just been formed (chair, M. TSAFELAC)

We wish to encourage those initiatives, which will help develop scientific research and collaboration in those countries as well as within Africa and in the world.
