de concentrer initialement sa participation au réseau mon-
dial par des déploiements dans l'océan Atlantique, progres-
sivement du Nord au Sud. Il est ainsi prévu d'approvisionner
240 flotteurs profileurs dans les 2 ans, dont 40 au titre du
projet européen de démonstration Gyroscope coordonné
par l'IFREMER et associant neuf laboratoires dans quatre
pays. Les premiers déploiements CORIOLIS se feront donc
dans l'Atlantique (Phase I) ; ils seront échelonnés dans le
temps de manière à fournir dès 2001 les données néces-
saires au prototype MERCATOR (MNATL) et au projet
européen GyroScope. Les achats et les déploiements seront
ensuite définis dans le contexte de la collaboration au
réseau global ARGO afin d'assurer la mise en place du
réseau de démonstration pour GODAE (2003-2005).

2000 to define the installation of the ARGO network in the
Atlantic, France announced its intention to initially concen-
trate its participation in the world network by first deploy-
ments in the Atlantic Ocean, gradually from North to the
South. It is thus envisaged to supply 240 profiling floats in
the 2 coming years (2001 and 2002), including 40 in the
