Weather forecasting
The forecast for tomorrow is confirmed: increasing pressure and fair weather conditions. In the morning, stratus clouds between 1000 and 1500 m but dissipating rapidly.
In the afternoon, the expected cloud cover fraction is 3/8, with weak westerly winds.
On Thursday, anticyclonic conditions with clear sky. Possible better conditions than previously forecast on Friday.

Status of the experiment:

Alert D-1 : IOP day on Wednesday continuing on Thursday

Report on today Regional Experiment briefing

Weather forecasting
Today, a depression system arrives from Spain : bad weather over South West of France. Tomorrow, increasing pressure in a northwest flow in altitude, with low to moderate west winds (5-10 knots) near the surface. Low cloud cover and possible fog rapidly dissipating in the morning in Les Landes. On Thursday, fair weather with anticyclonic conditions with west to southwest weak winds. On Friday, anticyclonic conditions in the morning but during the day a perturbation arrives from the north over the region (high altitude clouds but no rain). Southeastern winds in Toulouse and stronger northwest winds in Les Landes.
On Saturday and Sunday, convective and unstable weather with possible rain (southwest flow).

Instrumentation (news):
The Condor is likely to be installed onboard the Piper Aztec on Friday.

Status of the experiment:

Alert D-1 : IOP day on Wednesday continuing on Thursday

Envisaged measurements on Wednesday:
Radiosondes : La Cape Sud 5H, 11H, 14H, 17H UTC on Wednesday.
Toulouse 11H UTC
1 flight in the afternoon with Piper Aztec (Landes 270° flight plan) take off 13H15 L.T. from Francazal (3 profiles with 4 flasks sampling and 2 flasks sampling in between each profile). No leg in the north-south axis
2 or 3 flights with the Sky Arrow (IBIMET).
No drifting balloons.

Envisaged measurements on Thursday :
Radiosondes : La Cape Sud 5H, 8H, 11H, 14H, 17H UTC on Thursday.
Toulouse 11H UTC
2 flights with Piper Aztec (Landes flight plan) : take off 9:00 and 2:30 LT
2 or 3 flights with the Sky Arrow (IBIMET).
No drifting balloons.
