Report on today afternoon briefing

Weather forecasting
The conditions for the week end are confirmed : cloudy sky and possible rain. An improvement is expected on Monday : the sky remains cloudy in the morning, but the cloud cover decreases in the afternoon. The wind will blow from North-Northwest in the lower layers. On Tuesday, set up of anticyclonic conditions with weak winds. Possible stratocumulus in the morning. Steady anticyclonic conditions on Wednesday with weak winds from SouthEast.

Instrumentation :
The condor system encountered pressure regulation problems during this afternoon flight and failed providing measurements. The system will be mended during the weekend and a new test flight is likely to be operated on Monday.
Today, the SkyArrow (IBIMET) flew 4 flights, the Sky Arrow (ISAFoM) flew 1 NDVI flight.

Weather forecasting
Today, anticyclonic conditions with a deterioration in the evening (20H) :
At 1500m, southwest winds (20 knots), at 500m west-southwest winds (20 knots) decreasing around noon. Convective activity with thunderstorms in Marmande in the evening. On Saturday and Sunday, a low pressure situation is expected over the whole area with very cloudy skies in the morning and possible showers in the afternoon.
Possible improvement on Monday afternoon to be confirmed during this afternoon briefing.

Instrumentation :
Installation of humidity and temperature sensors for soil profiles in La Cape Sud. Soil samplings performed in La Cape Sud and Marmande (for soil texture, nitrogen and carbon)

Status of the experiment:

Today : IOP n°1 day n°3.
IOP n°1 will stop on today evening.

Today measurements:
Radiosondes : La Cape Sud 5H, 8H, 11H, 14H, 17H UTC.
Toulouse 11H UTC
1 flight with Piper Aztec (Landes flight plan with flasks sampling and Condor ) : take-off at 2:15 p.m.
4 flights (flux and profiles) with the Sky Arrow (IBIMET)
2 flights with the Sky arrow (ISAFOM): a test flight at 9:00 a.m. and a NDVI flight at 1:00 p.m.
No drifting balloons.
